MAJOR ELEMENTS OF THE ROLE:

  • Continuously monitor support queues for key IT systems used by our business users for lead management and mortgage processing
  • Triage and respond to support tickets and issues in a timely manner
  • Analyze reported issues for severity and impact and document for bug fixes
  • Track reported issue resolution progress and provide status updates, updating users and closing support tickets
  • Identify common issues and create help documentation (e.g. cheat sheets, how to's)
  • Work with developers and product owners to refine acceptance criteria for user stories
  • Work with developers to understand the scope of delivery changes to ensure full test coverage
  • Create requirements mapping, test plans and test cases and execute quality assurance testing

MUST haves:  
  • Post-secondary education or a technology-related diploma, with 2-3 years experience in business or system analysis
  • Experience with defining and executing test cases during quality assurance testing
  • Experience in system support
  • Familiarity with data analysis techniques
  • Familiarity with programming and database concepts would be considered an asset
  • Understanding of financial and banking concepts including mortgages, interest rates, property appraisals, credit assessment and mortgage products
  • Experience writing SQL queries to retrieve information from relational databases would be considered an asset
  • Experience working in Salesforce would also be considered an asset

The team deals with one of the largest data systems within RBC. Their last count, they were dealing with 17TB of data. There are a few million records of data sets – this data comes from trading set, fed into system, analyze how does it change in between – some form of reconciliation in the middle, what is the gap/difference. Over the next few years, the amount of data will be increasing exponentially.

  • Work in unison with Business Systems Analyst, Solution Architect and Product Owner, to understand business requirements and ensure they are testable and tested.
  • Establish framework to conduct automated testing of the solution.
  • Integrate test automation with CI/CD pipeline.
  • Develop and execute scripted test plans, scenarios, and test cases for unit, system integration, and quality assurance testing stages.
  • Promote and implement applications adhering to the client’s Information Technology Service Management procedures and processes.
  • Adhere to the client’s system development standards, methodologies, quality assurance principles and processes.
  Deliverables: The contractor will:
  • Author and/or provide input to technical documentation including, but not limited to, a Logical/Physical Solution Architecture, Technical Design Document, Test Strategy, test plans and test cases, Operational Playbook and Runbooks.
  • Provide oral briefings on an ongoing basis to appraise the client’s Technical Lead as to the project status, challenges, risks and performance.
