As the Senior Business Systems Analyst you will liaise between the team and business stakeholders for functionality enhancements and new developments. You will be a part of an exciting team responsible for translating concepts and requirements into client focused and effective system-based solutions. You will offer expertise in leading projects which are often high risk and involve complexly integrated systems across multiple business platforms.

 

What you’re responsible for:

  • Developing operational workflows to select and prioritize business and technical systems initiatives.
  • Articulating the scope, requirements, and solutions for large and complex projects by managing and facilitating sessions with team members and Business stakeholders.
  • Conducting process and solution design reviews by translating concepts into effective, usable, client-centered information architecture.
  • Presenting key designs elements and solutions to various levels within the organization and assisting in the evaluation of technology projects.
  • Mentoring and coaching team members on standards, methodologies, processes, tools, and continuous improvement.

Roles and responsibilities:

 

Project Planning & Coordination:

  • Participate in the preparation of business case documents and/or project plans (e.g. scope proposed projects, assist with time and cost estimates, conduct risk assessments)
  • Supports the development of business cases and other information needed by management to select and prioritize business and technical systems initiatives, working with business and IT managers, project managers, application architects and solution designers.
  • May oversee small-to-medium sized projects or sub-projects, following the Agile project management methodology.
  • Identify opportunities for strategic alignment of projects, and document requirements for future projects.

 

Requirements Management:

  • For moderately complex problems, enhancements, or new development, engage project stakeholders to gather, document, and validate detailed requirements, eliciting the essential needs of the system and stakeholder expectations.
  • Employ sophisticated tools to perform detailed analysis of business functions, processes, and requirements.
  • Perform detailed data analysis or data modeling, identifying data gaps, and developing data conversion mapping tables and algorithms, as necessary.
  • May perform object modeling.
  • Prepare detailed business and functional specifications to structure and document requirements, for use by solution design/system developers.
  • May create external design documents based on the business requirements, which may include user interface or report designs as required.
  • Conduct requirements presentations/reviews with key stakeholders and project team to obtain sign-off of requirements, managing any issues.
  • Participate in review, assessment and selection of solutions, as well as configuration and customization design decisions, acting as intermediary between client and IT teams during technical solution development (e.g. clarifying requirements, refining/documenting data and business rules, communicating technology constraints, negotiating alternative solutions and defining recommendations).
  • Vast experience in breaking down user stories and epics into manageable chunks that can be implemented within 3 week sprints
  • Expert knowledge in managing initiatives leveraging agile methodology.
  • Experience using JIRA and Confluence

 

Testing:

  • For small to medium, initiatives, may act as the overall test lead by managing overall testing activities and developing master test strategy and plan.
  • Act as test analyst for system testing, responsible for planning (including preparing comprehensive test plans and detailed test cases/scripts, estimating test effort, and developing/locating test data), executing testing, and participating in the resolution of problems encountered during testing to ensure that requirements are met.
  • For user acceptance testing, support and participate with business partners by providing input into the development of a user acceptance plan as required, and coordinating final signoff.
  • Ensure proper test documentation is created and maintained for audit purposes.
  • Contribute to improvement and streamlining of testing processes.
  • Vast experience in Agile Project management in a testing capacity
  • Experience in managing and executing testing leveraging automated testing tools such as RPA and UFT

Implementation Support:

  • Participate in implementations as required, providing guidance, verification, and data conversion activities.
  • May assist with preparing training materials and/or delivering training to trainers, users and external clients, including changes to business processes and/or systems.
  • May assist with development and maintenance of user documentation.
  • Familiarity with change management practices including ITIL/Service now experience.
  • Ability to create implementation plans including back out plans, risk analysis, runbooks and detailed task plans

Technical Knowledge

  • Must be familiar with .NET Framework.
  • Must be familiar and have experience implementing IDP.  Expert understanding of OKTA would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of SSO implementations

 

MUST haves:

  • You have 10 years of experience in Information Technology or a related field including five years of experience in the financial services industry.
  • You have completed post-secondary education in Information Technology or a related discipline.
  • Must be familiar with .NET Framework.
  • Must be familiar and have experience implementing IDP.
  • Expert understanding of OKTA would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of SSO implementations
