Title: Senior Technical Writer
Term: 6 months contract with extension
Location: Toronto – Hybrid 2-3 a week on-site

Brief Description of Duties:

 

  • Plan, research, design and develop content and messaging to support the Public Safety Radio Network (PSRN) project
  • Create monitoring and evaluation measurements for current and future communications strategies, activities and approaches
  • Develop communications to support the team, including identifying key messaging, audiences, schedules, and distribution methods of PSRN-related communications
  • Participate in Knowledge transfer
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation targeting a wide range of audience.
  • Experience with tools/software for composing comprehensive documents and presentation materials using ( MS-Office Suite, Adobe Framework or Adobe Acrobat); Other desktop publishing software experience would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Organizational Change Management principles and practices to contribute to material content for the program.
  • Proven work experience as a Technical Writer, Creator, Communications or Issues Management or similar role
  • Demonstrated experience creating content in an engineering, IT or technical environment
  • At least 5 years of experience
  • All roles procured are required to be cleared through the Contractor Security Clearance Process of the OPS.
  • Security Clearance process, levels, roles etc. are subject to change without prior notice. Candidates may be required to undergo revised/new process (or levels) any time prior or during the term of the contract
  • Proven work experience as a Technical Writer, Creator, or similar role
  • Demonstrated experience creating content in an engineering, IT or technical environment
  • Proven experience creating complex subject content for end users, business decision makers, and IT professionals at a variety of levels
  • Experience in creating different types of artifacts, for examples, process flows, raci charts, workflow designs and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation targeting a wide range of audience.
  • Experience with delivering professional documentation; demonstrated ability with increasing documents quality, through well designed supporting materials and user interfaces.
  • Experience with tools/software for composing comprehensive documents, such as, MS-Office Suite, Adobe Framework or Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with desktop publishing software and use of collaboration tools, Enterprise Content Management and web site content development and maintenance
  • Demonstrated experience drafting communications strategies and plans
  • Education in Communications/Marketing and/or equivalent professional writing experience
  • Knowledge of Organizational Change Management principles and practices to contribute to material content for the program.
  • Ability to partner with internal/external stakeholders and liaise with technical experts and non-technical colleagues, regarding content development and revision
  • Proven experience in developing on-line documentation, creation, distribution and maintenance of project and governance documentation
  • Ability to perform copy/edit and provide suggestions for improving structure, presentation, and delivery of content
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with Developers, Testers and Program Managers to develop and document features in online help content
  • Proven experience in producing diagrams, videos, and other visual content
  • Demonstrated experience producing and maintaining writing style guides, document templates, process guides and other internal processes and standards.
  • Ability to partner with internal/external stakeholders and liaise with experts regarding technical content creation
  • Experience analyzing customer feedback and responding to it to improve the customer experience
  • Experience in bringing clarity to complex business challenges and conflicting articulation of business issues through techniques that result in common understanding of the issues, as well as agreement on business process requirements vs technology requirements to solve the issues.
  • Experience in understanding, capturing, and analyzing complex and sometimes competing business requirements to develop communications material

  • Demonstrated effective time management and organizational skills, including the ability to plan and prioritize workload, ensuring timelines are met and respond to demands of a dynamic environment
  • Knowledge and experience both in strategic and operational public sector governance models, experience managing complex, multi-unit, multi-stakeholder and multiple levels of public sector executive stakeholder project team, experience with public sector ITSM and ITIL processes and policies, ability and demonstrated experience developing mutually beneficial relationships with public sector entities.
  • Strong experience of working on Public Safety Radio/telecom domain. Demonstrated experience of working with multiple stakeholders in a broader public sector (BPS) environment.
  • Experience of projects involving, network design, civil structures, user equipment distribution and operations.
  • Experience with projects involving large number of users (over 30,000), meeting their business requirements, training and communications needs etc.

 

Must Haves: 

 

  • At least 5 years of experience as a Technical Writer, Creator, Communications or Issues Management or similar role
  • Demonstrated experience creating content in an engineering, IT or technical environment
  • Experience with tools/software for composing comprehensive documents and presentation materials using ( MS-Office Suite, Sharepoint, Adobe Framework or Adobe Acrobat); Other desktop publishing software experience would be beneficial.
  • Experience with delivering professional documentation and presentation material for committees; demonstrated ability to produce quality, well designed supporting materials
