Story Behind the Need:

The GTEP – Technology Operations & Engineering teams work together to improve how customers and employees experience technology every day. We build effective and stable infrastructure technology solutions to support the systems and services that our customers and employees rely on. The team is seeking a Database Administrator to support the business initiatives for FY24, working on Tuning, Support, Maintenance deliverables for Payment Screening.

Typical Day in Role:

  • Oracle Installation, Database creations and upgrades from lower Database versions to higher versions.
  • Troubleshooting connectivity and addressing any system concerns.
  • Perform diagnostics, testing, and troubleshooting of software, o/s, and database issues (ex. correcting installation, configuration, or data problems).
    Plan and perform software installation, configuration, upgrade and patching database configuration, maintenance, upgrade and patching.
  • Perform and manage system and database backups.
  • Reporting to Senior Manager.

Candidate Requirements/Must-Have skills:

  • 8-10+ years of working experience as a Database Administrator
  • 5+ years of hands on experience with Oracle Installation – Database upgrades/migrations
  • 5+ years of hands on experience with Database creation and upgrade of Oracle database versions 12c & 19c
  • 5+ years of hands on experience with Data Guard – Database replication tools, setup, configure and support
  • 5+ years of hands on experience with Database performance and tuning

Nice-To-Have Skills:

  • Previous Banking/FI experience is an asset
  • Familiar with Security and Auditing
  • Oracle Certifications
  • Oracle Golden Gate and Oracle Exadata
  • Database setup in a Cloud environment
  • RAC (Real Application Cluster) and Automatic Storage Management (ASM)
  • OEM/Grid Control (13c)

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills to be able to work well with technical peers and business stakeholders at different levels within the organization.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as work independently or with minimal direction.
  • Good time management and organizational skills to effectively manage high scale project.

Best vs. Average Candidate:

  • Solid Oracle based knowledge and experience.
  • Good attitude, willing to learn and a good team player.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Experience working with executives.

Education:

  • Post-secondary degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related IT field is a nice to have.
