Story Behind the Need
Business group: HR Change Management Office – The HR Change Management Office leads enterprise-wide HR initiatives with a strong focus on communication and organizational change. The team consists of 10 members, including Change Managers, a Communications Manager, and two Communications Specialists. Historically, the team has been communications-heavy (newsletters, intranet content, events, town halls), but is now shifting toward deeper, more formal change management work.
Project: The team is supporting a large-scale, multi‑year payroll modernization initiative (ECP), running through July 2027. This project is a top priority for HR leadership, designed to overhaul Canadian payroll operations, reduce manual processes, automate workflows, improve governance, and address long-standing payroll accuracy issues. The solution will be cloud-based, with two consulting firms supporting the technology and payroll components.
The project is currently in Phase 1 (Discovery), which includes current‑state process mapping and stakeholder identification. Subsequent phases include:
Wave 2 (Aug–Dec 2026): System configuration, data integration, QA and UAT
Jan–July 2027: Migration, modernization, go‑live, training, communications, job aids, readiness, hypercare
The consulting partners will roll off shortly, and the contractor will transition into a key role supporting change activities.

Typical Day in Role:
• Design and implement change management strategies supporting large, complex HR initiatives, with guidance from the Senior Manager.
• Lead end‑to‑end change activities for small to mid‑size initiatives, or a dedicated change workstream within a larger project.
• Support execution of change tactics: communications, training, awareness campaigns, stakeholder engagement, readiness assessments, and more.
• Collaborate with GHR teams, HRBPs, COEs, HR Solutions, and other stakeholders to develop and deploy change strategies.
• Develop communication content for internal audiences using multiple formats and channels (SharePoint, intranet, internal social platforms).
• Review complex process documentation and translate it into digestible training materials and user-friendly content.
• Deliver employee communications and engagement pieces to build awareness and enthusiasm for the project.
• Support go‑live strategy development, training delivery, and change network planning as needed.
• Contribute to ad hoc project tasks in a dynamic project environment.
• Portfolio will include dedicated support for the ECP payroll modernization project.
