Brief Description on Duties: 

SCOPE:

The Justice Technology Services – MAG requires a L3 Business Architect to create architecture artifacts and develop architectural checkpoint deliverables for the CLMS project. Business Architect will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Create architecture documents such as data models for the CLMS solution, a SaaS implementation, including integration of applications and information as required.
  • Identify and document business processes that cross solutions and ensure integration points are identified and included in the design/architecture artifacts, such as Single Sign On (SSO)
  • Work with the project team in completing all relevant and required documentation in alignment with OPS standards and gates.
  • Supporting ongoing activities needed for upcoming phase gates (e.g., data migration architecture review board, Case Specific Assessments (CSA), PIA, Penetration Test, etc.)

 

DELIVERABLES:

  • Develop/review business architecture artifacts as part of the Enterprise Information Architecture Federated Framework and ensures that these are integrated.
  • Create, review, provide input and support of Enterprise Architecture artifacts for all corporate checkpoints as required (e.g., data migration architecture review board, CSA, PIA, pen test, etc.).
  • Create architecture documents such as data models (Conceptual/Logical/Physical) including integration of applications and information as required.
  • Models business at enterprise and/or core business levels – Design capability models and related architectural solutions of business tasks, mapping capability functionality to the internal and external resources, as well as the current state architecture to the target or future state architecture.
  • Develop and maintain architectural controls that are in alignment and adherence to Ministry of Government Services’ processes and standards
  • Review standards and document the business process flows, business logic, code dependencies, etc
  • Perform required analysis – business requirements, prepare functional/non-functional specifications & detail designs
  • Create use cases and process flows; ensure alignment with the program area and associated business architecture, as well as traceability to solution logical and physical architectures.
  • Consults with appropriate teams on specific business architecture elements and conducts focused group meetings to meet the deliverables.
  • Participate in Knowledge transfer

Experience and Skill Set Requirements
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge and experience with a wide range of methods, techniques, and tools for enterprise architecture deliverables such as, but not limited to: business functional modeling, business event modeling, business process mapping and other related disciplines.
  • Experience in converting client requirements and functional/non-functional specifications to architectural design artifacts with effort estimation.
  • Expertise in generating Entity relationship diagrams .
  • Experience in modeling the business at the enterprise and/or core business levels for transformation initiatives.
  • Knowledge of system development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies for systems/software development for business applications and systems specifications design; software design, development, and integration; user interface design principles; database concepts; data and information architecture.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and processes, including Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches, is required.
  • A collaborative team member with a proven track record of meeting deadlines, excellent time management skills, and the ability to handle aggressive timelines.

 

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Proven experience and expertise with the development of Business Architecture artifacts for an SaaS solution.
  • Successfully completed business architecture deliverables in government settings or similar large IT organization.
  • At least 10 years of experience in reviewing, collaborating, and creating Architectural artifacts (like Solution Requirement Document, Business Architecture Document. Information Architecture Document, Solution Architecture Document).

CRITERIA:

Criteria 1 – Technical Skills

 

  • At least 8 years’ experience in the creation of architecture documents (like business requirements, data models, functional/technical design, relationship diagrams)
  • Ability to capture data and information needed to document, validate and analyze business processes of existing legacy systems and map them to the future state processes.
  • Experience in the use of business architecture and modeling software to accurately document the current and future state Enterprise Architecture for the solution

 

Criteria 2 – Technical Experience

  • Experience in design and architecture especially for SaaS applications, , experience with cloud technologies, including AWS and MS Azure. As well as old Client/Server Architecture.
  • Experience with Case Management system which is supported at an integrated enterprise level.
  • Experience in leading teams to ensure all architectural artifacts are completed for all phases and aspects of a large-scale integrated projects.
  • Experience developing architecture artifacts for OPS/large IT organization architecture checkpoints and gating (AGP2).

Criteria 3 – Communication Skills

 

  • Proven ability to support the client in development of presentation materials and presenting to the wider audience.
  • Hands on experience in working with business stakeholders, internal project team and vendor.
  • Oral and written communication skills, Interpersonal, collaborative, and consultative skills

Criteria 4 – Public Sector Experience

  • Experience in working with Architectural artifacts within OPS would be an asset.
  • Any relevant legal industry expertise, having worked within the legal industry on various projects.

 

KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER:
Knowledge to be Transferred:

  • The consultant shall transfer all architectural deliverables and intellectual capital defined and developed during this assignment including (like business requirements, data models, functional/technical design)

Knowledge to be Transferred to:

  • Project Manager / Team members

Details of Transfer:

1:1 meetings / team meetings / documentation on SharePoint/Teams site, throughout the duration of the project life cycle etc.
