Brief description of duties:

 

The client’s Hub will implement an overarching architecture that holistically integrates, transforms and shares data. The Hub architecture will address the client’s current data management problems and has the following goals:

  • increase data handling capacity by orders of magnitude (provide more data to consumers)
  • make data accessible, shareable and understandable (democratize data and increase value extraction)
  • provide data security and data access auditing
  • support data governance (automated data quality, data transformation, data assets, etc.)
  • support standardization (data concepts, master data, aggregation, trending, etc.)
  • streamline and automate data flows and business processes
  • ability to adjust system capacity to meet variable demand
  • support remarkable customer experiences with data

The Hub vision is based on the client’s many years of experience combined with modern data management paradigms. It is an architectural ecosystem based on “Big Data”, Cloud and BI/Data visualization technologies that enables to solidify its position in today’s data-first world.

Responsibilities (Services):

The contractor will be expected to provide the following services and deliverables:

  • As a member of the Applied Architecture group and working for the Hub project, provides architectural direction and delivers required architectural artifacts such as conceptual architecture, logical architecture, physical architecture etc.
  • Contribute to the development of the overall architecture of the Hub platform and supporting technologies including data management platforms, information access, and health information applications.
  • Review existing architecture for data pipelines implemented with an AWS/Informatica and SAS integrations solutions
  • Rearchitect pipelines to replace SAS with Python/AWS solutions.
  • Deliver reference architecture
  • Deliver reference implementation and proof of concept using Python and appropriate AWS technologies
  • Works closely with IT and business stakeholders to ensure architectural solutions are aligned with business requirements.
  • Develops reference architectures for specified architecturally significant business scenarios and conducts reviews to ensure their implementation
  • Researches, evaluates and recommends technologies for architectural solutions; may require proof-of-concept development to support the recommendation
  • Collaborate with technical and business staff in development of architectures and during implementations
  • Participate in business requirements facilitation sessions and identifies and documents architectural significant requirements
  • Provides strategic input into the evolution of architecture standards and methodologies and the definition of appropriate tools and techniques to support these standards and methodologies
  • Participates in evolving the Blueprint
  • Formulate strategies for identifying and designing reusable components at the enterprise level; may be involved in the development of these components
  • Support operational activities for the existing architecture components and services
  • Provide oral and written briefings throughout the projects to appraise the management team as to the status of activities, challenges and project risks.
  • Participates in the evolution of the Architecture common components and services including implementation
  • Adhere to standards, methodologies, and processes
  • Ensures interoperability, performance and scalability, reliability and availability, data consistency, cost effectiveness, and technological risks are all addressed in the architecture
  • Ensure solutions are documented and communicated effectively for their intended audiences
  • Leverages strategic plan, goals, objectives, policies and procedures in creation of enterprise  architecture deliverables

 

Nice to haves:

 

  • SAS Analytics experience
  • Experience (including hands-on) with Informatica platform (Informatica Big Data management, Big Data Quality, Data Preparation, Data Catalogue, Axon)
  • Experience with Data Analytics and AI
  • Experience with BI and Data Visualizations (Qlik Sense)
  • Experience with business vision, strategy and roadmaps
  • Knowledge of TOGAF, Zachman or other architecture frameworks. TOGAF certification would be an asset.
  • Certification in one or more of the following technologies preferred: AWS Cloud Architecture, AWS Data Lakes, Security/IAM
